The innovative diesel cars are much harmful to the health and environment then the petrol or gas cars. The diesel cars have considerably improved in a past decade, however, the technology control of exhaust emission in petrol cars has enlarged faster. This is said by Swedish government after a study.
Diesel cars release more amounts of carcinogenic substances, particulates, and nitrogen oxides than petrol cars. The present trend of increase in sales of cars with diesel engine is really jeopardizing the environment. A Swedish official said that for the conservation of environment, the buyers must be keen about the environment, and must choose a petrol car over the diesel one.
The rising ratio of diesel cars among the recently sold cars results in a significant increase in emissions of nitrogen oxide. It is said that if the sale of diesel cars increases from one to twenty percent, and the nitrogen oxides emissions from fresh cars is double than that of former ones. The emissions of nitrogen oxide have a major contribution in the contamination of soil, lakes, and coastal water.
The diesel cars consume 20-25 % less fuel than the other cars. During their advertisement, huge stress is on factor of environment for combating global warming. The combustion of a liter of diesel makes around 15 percent more CO2 than a liter of petrol. The petrol cars produce a negligible amount of emission. The increase in diesels from one to twenty percent results in the reduction of emissions of CO2 by just 1 to 2 percent.
In an outlook in terms of risk of cancer, health problems, and cause on respiratory passages, the new petrol cars has a very minute impact on health. The diesel car emission is estimated to be four times greater than that of emission from petrol-driven cars. The modern diesel cars make ten to fifteen times more emission than the modern petrol ones. However, new diesel cars are far better than the former ones.
The Swedish EPA has done some calculations about the environmental costs bared by the society of exhaust. The cost for latest diesel cars is two kronor per litre. However, on the other side, the estimation of exhaust fumes through latest petrol cars is around one kronor per litre, which is almost half of the diesel ones.
It is necessary to reduce the count of cars with diesel engine for the achievement of goals of environment. However, the present trend is fully different from the goals. The sale of diesel car is continuously increasing day by day. The usage of diesel cars is not a useful way of fighting climate change. Thus, something must be done for the prevention of emission by the diesel cars.
